USA – FDA Launches Dashboard for Cosmetic Product Adverse Events

On September 12, 2025, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the launch of the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) Public Dashboard for Cosmetic Products — a new tool designed to improve transparency and give the public real-time access to adverse event data related to cosmetics.

This initiative is part of the FDA’s broader modernisation strategy, following its recent launch of real-time reporting dashboards for drugs and therapeutic biologics.

The cosmetic-specific dashboard facilitates easier search, filtering, and downloading of adverse event data submitted to the FDA.

Reports are updated with the most recent submissions and include:
Serious adverse event reports submitted by responsible persons under the Modernisation of Cosmetics Regulation Act of 2022 (MoCRA).
Voluntary adverse event reports from healthcare professionals, consumers, salon professionals, cosmetologists, and others.

Users can query reports using product names, adverse event terms, and other filters, enabling more targeted searches and easier access to relevant safety data.

The FDA emphasises that reports included in the dashboard have not been verified by the agency and the presence of a report does not mean the FDA has concluded that a cosmetic product caused the event. FAERS data should not be interpreted as a complete safety profile of any cosmetic product.

This new resource marks a major step forward in regulatory transparency for the cosmetics sector.

By opening access to real-time safety data, the FDA aims to:
– Enhance consumer awareness.
– Support healthcare and beauty professionals in monitoring potential safety issues.
– Encourage accountability among cosmetic manufacturers and distributors.

As MoCRA implementation continues, tools like this dashboard will become increasingly important for ensuring both consumer safety and industry compliance in the U.S. market.
