Indonesia Notifies Draft Regulation on Standardised Non-Halal Labelling

On 12 February 2026, Indonesia submitted notification G/TBT/N/IDN/184 to the World Trade Organization (WTO), outlining a draft regulation on the Form and Procedures for the Labelling of Non-Halal Information.
The proposal introduces uniform standards and icons for “Non-Halal” labelling to ensure consistency and legal certainty for products marketed in Indonesia.

The draft applies to products subject to mandatory halal certification, including:
» Food and beverages
» Medicines
» Cosmetics
» Chemical and biological products
» Genetically engineered products
» Consumer goods that are worn, used, or otherwise utilised by the public

Non-halal labelling must follow the official icons and procedural requirements set out in the regulation. Products already bearing non-halal labels prior to entry into force will remain valid. However, companies will have three years from the regulation’s effective date to fully align with the new labelling requirements.
